Integrating Technology In The Classroom

With all the mandates of NCLB, technology requirements are being pushed to the top of the list. The challenge is to add technology into your curriculum. As if you have time to learn a new technology, at least to the point your are comfortable in sharing/teaching it, and then figure out how to incorporate it into the lesson. I found this really cool site that gives easy ways to integrate technology into your classroom. http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech/tech146.shtml has some great tips on doing just that. For example, instead of writing the "word of the day" on the blackboard, give the students the URL to find the "word of the day" and bring it back to you. Now for all you secondary teachers, some ofthe ideas are a bit elementary, but it should be very easy to tweak the suggestions and make them age appropriate. I am sure all of our 21st century learners would love to "find" some of the information and bring it back to the classroom. Plus, it will save you time in your daily lessons to let them gather the information and then teach it to their peers. We all know that students retain more information if they own it. I think the site is excellent start...check it out and let me know what you think. Happy planning!
